The Challenge

Governments and enterprises across Asia-Pacific face a severe shortage of qualified cybersecurity talent. Red Alpha's intensive, real-world cyber defence training is built to close that gap, including for people with no technical background.

Specialist training programmes still meet scepticism from two sides. Enterprise hiring managers want proof that academy graduates can handle real operations. Prospective students, especially career-switchers, often assume cybersecurity is too complex or out of reach.

Red Alpha needed PR to build enterprise credibility through leadership news, and to prove through real graduates that the training works. Both had to connect back to the regional talent shortage its curriculum is designed to address.

What we did

Executive appointment announcement. We pitched the appointment of Yoav Korman as Singapore Managing Director, framed around Red Alpha's mission to raise industry standards and tackle the global cyber talent shortage. Regional B2B and enterprise tech media ran it: Channel Asia, The Economic Times CIO SEA, CFO Tech, IT Brief Asia, SecurityBrief Asia, Entelechy Asia and ASEAN Technology & Security News.

Leader profiling. We profiled Founding Member and Chief Community Officer Emil Tan, who was featured in Tatler Asia's Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow for work developing Singapore's next generation of cyber defence specialists.

Graduate career-switch stories. Luke Chen, a former musician who moved into cybersecurity, was featured on Workforce Singapore's MyCareersFuture. To reach mature and female career-switchers, we placed print and online features in The Straits Times on women over 50 thriving in tech startups.

National radio. We arranged a broadcast interview on CNA938's Work It. Lead Trainer Weiliang Zhuang and graduate Michael Tian explained what cybersecurity careers involve and gave practical advice on entering the field.

The Results

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PR work for cybersecurity companies in Singapore?
PR for cybersecurity companies in Singapore works best when each audience gets its own proof. Red Alpha Cybersecurity had to convince enterprise hiring managers that its graduates could handle real operations, and convince prospective students that the field was open to them. Grow Public Relations split the campaign to match. Leadership news went to B2B titles such as Channel Asia, IT Brief Asia and SecurityBrief Asia. Graduate stories went to MyCareersFuture and The Straits Times. A CNA938 radio interview reached a broad national audience. The campaign produced 14 published stories across 12 outlets.
What results can a cybersecurity training academy expect from PR?
A cybersecurity training academy can earn coverage across trade, national and careers media when its PR uses real people and real news. Red Alpha Cybersecurity worked with Grow Public Relations and secured 14 published stories across 12 media outlets, more than double its target of 6. Placements included The Economic Times CIO SEA, Channel Asia, CFO Tech, Tatler Asia's Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow, Workforce Singapore's MyCareersFuture, The Straits Times and CNA938's Work It. The coverage positioned Red Alpha as a recognised contributor to Southeast Asia's cybersecurity talent pipeline as well as a training provider.
How does a managing director appointment get covered by enterprise tech media?
An appointment story reaches enterprise tech media when it is tied to an industry problem editors already cover. Grow Public Relations pitched Yoav Korman's appointment as Singapore Managing Director of Red Alpha Cybersecurity as part of the company's mission to tackle the global cyber talent shortage. That angle gave B2B editors a reason to run it. Channel Asia, The Economic Times CIO SEA, CFO Tech, IT Brief Asia, SecurityBrief Asia, Entelechy Asia and ASEAN Technology & Security News all published the news, giving Red Alpha coverage in seven outlets from a single announcement.
Why do graduate success stories matter in PR for a training academy?
Graduate stories give prospective students proof that someone like them has made the move. Red Alpha Cybersecurity found that career-switchers often assume cybersecurity is too complex for them. Grow Public Relations pitched the story of Luke Chen, a former musician who moved into cybersecurity, to Workforce Singapore's MyCareersFuture. It also placed features in The Straits Times on women over 50 thriving in tech startups, aimed at mature and female career-switchers. On CNA938's Work It, graduate Michael Tian joined Lead Trainer Weiliang Zhuang to explain how to enter the field. Each story answered a common doubt with a real person.
How do you persuade non-technical career-switchers that cybersecurity is within reach?
Put working graduates and trainers on air and in print, and let them explain the path in plain terms. Red Alpha Cybersecurity trains people from non-technical backgrounds, yet many potential applicants believed cybersecurity was beyond them. Grow Public Relations arranged an interview on CNA938's Work It, where Lead Trainer Weiliang Zhuang and graduate Michael Tian gave practical advice on entering the field. Luke Chen's move from music to cybersecurity ran on MyCareersFuture. The Straits Times covered women over 50 thriving in tech startups. Together, these stories showed that age and background need not rule anyone out.
