The Mission

Staytion came to Grow Public Relations to position the brand as a trailblazer in transit-accessible suburban co-working and launch its flagship multi-concept workspace at Marsiling MRT station.

The six-week campaign secured national coverage in all four of Singapore's official languages, highlighting a 70% occupancy rate within the first 30 days of launch.

Client

Staytion, a Singapore startup building multi-concept lifestyle and flexible workspaces inside MRT stations.

Sector

Co-working and flexible workspace.

Services

Media pitching, launch strategy, broadcast and radio interviews.

Headline Result

Six weeks of coverage across The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, Tamil Murasu and CNA938, reaching audiences in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
The Challenge

Hybrid work stayed after the pandemic, and demand began moving away from co-working spaces in the central business district. Remote workers wanted desks closer to home. Staytion's answer was to build a multi-concept lifestyle and working spaces directly inside MRT stations, starting at Marsiling.

In Singapore, co-working still meant downtown office towers. A workspace inside an operational train station raised obvious doubts about noise, access and comfort. Staytion had to show commuters and heartland remote workers that working at an MRT station was practical and affordable.

It also needed credibility. Staytion planned to expand to stations such as Paya Lebar and Woodlands, and that meant winning validation from national press, government stakeholders and corporate partners.

What we did

Grow Public Relations built a six-week media plan in three stages.

Lifestyle and digital launch. We pitched the Marsiling opening as a practical option for remote workers in the north of Singapore. Early features ran on Mothership.sg and Must Share News, followed by tech and property coverage in Vulcan Post, EdgeProp Singapore and Tatler Asia.

National news around the official opening. Staytion's partnerships with NTUC Club and Workthere by Savills gave the story weight, and Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad officiated the launch. We took that milestone to national newsrooms. The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian and Tamil Murasu all reported it in print and online. Lianhe Zaobao's report noted a 70% occupancy rate within the first month.

Broadcast and first-hand reviews. We arranged a live radio feature on CNA938's Money Mind. The Smart Local published a detailed review of the space, covering its private meeting booths, high-speed Wi-Fi and coffee stations.

The Results
  • National news coverage in all four official languages: English (The Straits Times), Chinese (Lianhe Zaobao), Malay (Berita Harian) and Tamil (Tamil Murasu).
  • A 70% occupancy rate within the first 30 days of launch, highlighted in the coverage, showing real demand for heartland transit workspaces.

Placements across The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, Tamil Murasu, CNA938, Vulcan Post, Mothership.sg, Must Share News, EdgeProp Singapore, Tatler Asia and The Smart Local.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PR work for transit-based and heartland workspace concepts in Singapore?
PR for a transit-based workspace in Singapore works by answering the public's doubts before they turn into objections. Staytion put its first co-working space inside Marsiling MRT station, a setting few people linked with professional work. Grow Public Relations pitched the launch as a practical option for heartland remote workers, placed early stories on Mothership.sg and Must Share News, then secured national coverage in The Straits Times when the space officially opened. A review on The Smart Local showed the meeting booths, Wi-Fi and coffee stations, so readers could judge the space for themselves before visiting.
What results did Staytion's Marsiling MRT launch campaign achieve?

How does having a ministerial GOH help a startup get into national news?
A ministerial GOH opening gives a startup launch a news hook that national newsrooms cover as a public story. When Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad officiated the opening of Staytion's workspace at Marsiling MRT station, Grow Public Relations pitched the event alongside Staytion's partnerships with NTUC Club and Workthere by Savills. A government voice plus established corporate partners turned a small business opening into a story about how Singaporeans work. How long did Staytion's launch PR campaign run?
Staytion's launch PR campaign ran for six weeks. Grow Public Relations sequenced it in three stages. Digital lifestyle coverage came first, with Mothership.sg and Must Share News building early awareness of the Marsiling MRT space. How do you convince remote workers that working inside an MRT station is practical?
